Whats the story behind it all?

I (Kim) was brought up with boats during my young years, as my parents (well specially my father... mom didnt like it too much ;)) had a small boat sailing from Vordingborg in the southern part of Sealand (Sjælland) which is the main island of Denmark.

My brothers also both were, and still is, interested in sailing, so it didnt really come as a surprise to me that I also liked the water, and feel somewhat out of place when there is no water nearby.

Esmeralda was living most of her Philippinian years about 200m from one of the best windsurfing beaches in the world in the Philippines.

For years I was daydreaming about living on a boat, cruising the seas, but as with most people, taking the steps to make it happen didnt really happen as other things were taking up ones time.

Last summer, I however had a nasty experience, where I was facing perhaps sitting in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. Fortunately it didnt go as bad, and apart from some numbness and some loss of musclepower in my right lower leg, I came thru it. But those weeks did make me think. The moment I realized that I would be able to walk again, I made the decision that I would like to follow my dream while I can. Life is passing by so quickly, with people being preoccupied with jobs and garden and house and ... but not with following their dreams. I dont want to sit and think back on all the things that I would like to have done, but I didnt do when I get old, and dont have the capacity to follow the dreams any longer. We only live once (I think :) )... we'd better make the best out of it! 

My wife was fortunately very understanding, and as long as the WAF (Wife Approval Factor) was high enough on the yacht, then she would give the thumbs up :)
