24 July 06 - Bathroom being fiberglassed and zoo

Today the carpenters were not around here. Instead they were in the workshop to varnish the remaining pieces of wood for setting them up tomorrow.
Panos, Christos and Andreas (Panos people) were here fiberglassing the new walls in the bathroom and doing the floor. We didnt really see that happening, as Soeren and us decided to go out on a drive to Attica Zoo and afterwards to Marathon Lake which is a semi artificial lake used for drinking water in Athens.
While we were out, the carpenters was called in by Panos, as the woodwork in the bathroom floor was not rigid enough, so a new design and construction had to be made which took them a couple of hours to get done. Then the floor was fiberglassed.
We went looking for Attica Zoo, out near a village called Spata. The weather was, as usual, hot and sunny. After some exciting time, driving around on the vapors of our empty tank, we found a gasstation and about an hour later found the zoo.
The zoo is recommendable as it is quite nicely organized, have seemingly relatively good space for the animals, and have done quite alot to make the areas presentable and to some extent original looking. If you come to Athens with children, go visit the Zoo. Its not very cheap, Euro 11 per grownup and Euro 9 per children (3-12 years old), but well worth a daytrip.
Katharina broke the law today... or anyway would have done so in Denmark I think... as a machine in the Zoo was re-pressing a 5 cent coin with one of 4 different zoo pictures.
After the zoo, we decided to go hunting for 2 things... something to eat... and Marathon Lake.
We found a typical Greek taverna, not far from Marathon Lake in the mountains, and selected several things from the appetizer menu.... which all were quite tasty. As the amount provided for us was quite big, we didnt really feel a need for the main course... it was one of the cheapest dinners here yet... only Euro 22 for us all 4 incl. sodawater as drinks. Suggestion.. get out of Athens to eat. Athens is expensive, and quality is quite varying regardless of price, although the more expensive, the higher the chance of a quality increase. But outside Athens, its still possible to get quality food for low cost.
After the dinner, we continued our search for the lake... and found it only 2 km from where we ate.... after dark unfortunately. But there is a very narrow bridge crossing the lake, only crossable in one direction at a time, which we used. Then a 'siteseeing' tour towards Lamia... which were the wrong direction when one wants to go to Athens... discovered that after some 10kms of drive on the toll road.
Tomorrow is big construction day.... the remaining wooden parts of the master bedroom is to be installed :)
Argh... also had bad news from home... the people that had made contract to buy our house and who we gave values of some dkr. 30.000 + a dkr. 50.000 deduction in price as part of the deal, started to play tricks on us. Their lawyer and them suddenly decided to want another dkr. 150.000 off the price of the house, which is completely out of the question.
I simply hate when people turn back to agreements made with open minds and open hearts. So that deal is off... and very unfortunately we have allready said to several interested parties showing up in the time between the signing of the contract and today, that the house were sold... stupid us!... stupid me to trust people!
Here are some pictures from our day:
